Hurricane Dorian may not have devastated the United States like many thought it could.
Dorian appeared to be headed for a crash-course with the state of Florida and then make its way up the east coast. At one point, Dorian was deemed a Category 5 hurricane. However, Dorian essentially missed Florida and didn’t create the disruption once thought.
But before missing Florida, Dorian rocked the The Bahamas. Purdue athletics realizes this, and is setting up a drive to help the affected victims in The Bahamas. Here’s a statement via The Nassau Guardian:
“The program encourages fans attending the football game at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, this Saturday night, to bring items to donate to those affected by the storm here in The Bahamas. There will be five drop-off locations: Gate B, Gate T2, Ross-Ade Pavilion entrance, Boilermaker Crossing at Weist Plaza and the north end of the stadium along Joe Tiller Drive.
“On the school’s website, the program sent out a release asking for an abundance of items, more notably baby formula, baby food, bug spray, canned goods, cereal, disinfectant, first aid kits, flashlights, large plastic trash bags, Lysol cleaning products, non-perishable dry goods, pillows, sheet sets, towels, water and wet wipes. It stated that used clothes cannot be accepted.
“All collected items will be transported to Florida via the Purdue football equipment trailer, provided by longtime Boilermaker supporter Mike Bloom, and subsequently sent on to The Bahamas.”
Purdue is hosting TCU on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The game will be televised on BTN.
