Purdue is getting some help at running back for 2022, adding a veteran contributor out of the transfer portal.

The commitment comes from RB Kobe Lewis out of Central Michigan. A member of the 2018 recruiting class, Lewis spent 4 seasons in the program before hitting the transfer portal.

Lewis missed the 2021 season due to injury but has been a versatile producer for the Chippewas. He has over 1,800 yards of offense and returned kicks during his career.

Lewis’ best season came in 2019 when he rushed for 1,074 yards and 12 touchdowns. For his career, he has 1,579 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns.

Lewis was also an asset in the passing with 40 career receptions for 270 yards and a touchdown. He’s also returned 51 kicks with an average of 22.2  yards per return.

He should be a solid addition to the RB room of the Boilermakers as Aidan O’Connell continues to lead the offense.
