Purdue’s Carsen Edwards selected in 2nd round of NBA Draft, headed to Boston

One of the B1G’s top scorers from last season is headed to Boston.
Thursday night, former Purdue guard Carsen Edwards was selected early in the second round of the NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, going No. 33 overall. Due to a trade between the Sixers and Boston Celtics, Edwards is headed to Boston.
Edwards was the third B1G player taken in the 2019 NBA Draft, behind Indiana’s Romeo Langford and Michigan’s Jordan Poole.
As a junior last season, Edwards led the B1G in scoring, averaging 24.3 points per game while knocking down 39.4 percent of his shot attempts. As good as he was in the regular season, it was his incredible postseason run that improved his draft stock.
In Purdue’s Elite Eight run, Edwards scored a career-high 42 points on two separate occasions, once against Villanova in the Round of 32 and again in the game against Virginia in the Elite Eight.
He scored 26 points or more in all four NCAA Tournament games.
Edwards was a first-team All-B1G selection and a consensus second-team All-American. Now, he’s a second-round NBA Draft pick.
