A Purdue center has decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal after his third season with the program. Gold and Black Illustrated reported the news this week.
Emmanuel Dowuona has decided to explore his options outside of West Lafayette this offseason. He missed the entire 2020-21 season because of issues with COVID-19, per the report. Dowuona is the second Boilermaker to hit the portal, along with Aaron Wheeler.
Dowuona, a 7-foot center from Miami, Florida, was a member of Purdue’s 2018 recruiting class. He redshirted his first year with the program and appeared in nine games for the Boilermakers for the 2019-20 season. The center did not play for the Boilers this year.
Per 247Sports, Dowuona was a 3-star recruit out of high school and was ranked as one of the Top 20 centers in his recruiting class. With a redshirt year and the additional season of eligibility from the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dowuona will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Dowuona could still return to Purdue if it is in his best interest.
