Purdue gets first 2025 commitment from productive edge defender out of Texas

Purdue has its first verbal commitment for the 2025 class.

On Tuesday, DeSoto (Texas) High edge defender Keylan Abrams announced his commitment to the Boilermakers. He was offered in May and quickly scheduled a visit to see West Lafayette. Abrams also holds offers from North Texas and Fresno State.

Abrams is a 6-foot, 195-pound defender. He’ll likely end up playing more inside ‘backer for the Boilermakers but has been productive for his DeSoto team with his hand in the dirt.

As a sophomore, Abrams was credited with 74 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. He helped DeSoto to the Texas 6A D-II state championship.

Abrams doesn’t have a ranking yet from either 247Sports or from the industry-generated 247 Composite. But he has upside and shows his athleticism on tape. You can view it below, via Hudl:
