Purdue guard Isaiah Thompson has decided to look for opportunities outside of West Lafayette to continue his college basketball career. The news broke on Monday.
Mike Carmin of the Journal & Courier reported that Thompson has entered his name into the transfer portal. The decision comes just a few days after Purdue was defeated by St. Peter’s in the Sweet 16, bringing the season to an end.
Thompson was in West Lafayette for 3 seasons, joining the team ahead of the 2019-20 season out of high school. He is the younger brother of former Boilermakers guard PJ Thompson.

Thompson appeared in 37 games for the Boilers during the season and made 20 starts. He averaged 4.2 points. 1 rebound and 0.9 assists per game.
Over the last 3 years, Thompson has found himself in a key role for the Boilermakers at the guard position. He’s played in 95 career contests at Purdue and has started in 25 games. His career averages are 4.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.
Because of the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver, Thompson will still have 2 years of eligibility to use at his next destination.
