Take a breath Purdue fans, it’s over. Purdue basketball survived a close game against Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday.

The Huskers took the Boilermakers to overtime, but couldn’t finish the job as Purdue escaped with a 65-62 victory.

Nebraska knew who Purdue’s main scorer was and prioritized shutting him down. Zach Edey finished the game with 11 points despite still having 17 rebounds.

While Edey had a low scoring night for his standards someone else needed to step up. That’s where Fletcher Loyer came in.

Loyer delivered a great performance, ending the game with 22 points and 3 rebounds. With under six minutes to go in the second half Loyer took matters into his own hands and dribbled around the Husker defenders for a slam dunk.

In the final seconds of regulation Loyer was left wide open and couldn’t get a corner three shot to fall which forced overtime.

Purdue eventually took control of the game in overtime and used the extreme height of Edey to contest a last-second three from Nebraska before Braden Smith sealed the win with a steal.

The Boilermakers remain undefeated with the win and move to 10-0. Purdue will have a chance to cool off with a non-conference matchup with Davidson next on Dec. 17.

That game tips off at 6:15 p.m. ET on BTN.
