Purdue has reportedly landed on a key piece for Ryan Walters’ first coaching staff with the Boilermakers. This piece comes in the form of an impressive offensive coordinator hiring out of the Big 12.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Purdue is expected to hire West Virginia OC and QBs coach Graham Harrell for the same role in West Lafayette. Harrell has spent 3 separate stops as an OC in his career and was a notable collegiate QB at Texas Tech during his playing days.

Harrell played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech and later coached on Leach’s staff as a WRs coach at Washington State from 2014-15. Harrell has OC stops at North Texas, USC and West Virginia in his career.

A descendant of the Air Raid tree of Leach coaches, Harrell could be the type of offensive fit needed in Purdue to complement the defensive-minded Walters at head coach.
