Demeco Kennedy, a 3-star athlete from Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass, committed to Purdue on Thursday.

Kennedy chose the Boilermakers over the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, Illinois, and West Virginia. He took official visits to Illinois and West Virginia, as well as Purdue.

The 6-foot-3, 265-pounder plays at both offensive guard and defensive end. He is ranked as the No. 5 prospect from the state of Kentucky and the No. 70 athlete in the class, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite. Overall, he sits at No. 716 in the national player rankings.

Kennedy is violent at the point of contact and has some great initial burst coming off the line.

His slimmer frame allows him to be very effective as a pulling guard that blocks in the open field, and when he gets a head of steam there are few high school defenders that will stay in his way. Kennedy’s current frame figures to translate to DE, but if he bulks up, he could continue to play on the offensive line depending on what the positions of need are for Ryan Walters and Co.

The 23rd commitment of Purdue’s 2024 class, Kennedy is the seventh lineman and third athlete in the Boilermakers’ class. He is Walters’ only commitment from the state of Kentucky in the class as well. He moves Purdue’s class to 27th overall in the nation according to 247 Sports.
