Purdue is losing commits left and right nowadays. The latest to hop off the ship is 2024 DL Drayden Pavey, who originally committed to the Boilermakers in July.

Pavey is a 3-star talent in the Class of 2025 and considered to be the No. 80 DL according to 247Sports’ player rankings. He stands at 6-3, 305 and hails from Cincinnati, Ohio.

According to 247 Purdue now has only 9 commitments remaining in the 2025 cycle, none of whom are rated in the top 800 players in the nation. The Boilermakers’ top-rated prospect as of middle October is Cameron Gorin, a 3-star OT from Indiana.

Pavey has heard from a few more Big Ten teams, with Indiana and Wisconsin considered major players moving forward. Earlier on Saturday 247 analyst Allen Trieu published a crystal ball for Pavey to end up in Madison with the Badgers.

It’s not hard to see why Purdue is struggling on the recruiting trail right now. The Boilermakers have lost 6 games in a row after downing Indiana State 49-0 to start the season. Their most recent loss – a 35-0 blanking at the hands of No. 2 Oregon – offered very little to be excited about moving forward.

Purdue is back in action in 2 weeks after a bye week and will face off against Northwestern.
