Purdue loses commitment, 3-star OL out of Louisiana flips to SEC program

Ethan Fields flipped his commitment from Purdue to Ole Miss on Friday. Fields is a 3-star OL from the 2023 class per the 247Sports Composite.

Fields was headed to Purdue, but with Jeff Brohm leaving, the offensive lineman decided to change his college decision. Brohm left Purdue for his alma mater Louisville last week. Former Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters is taking over at Purdue.

Fields announced his decision to flip on Friday in a Twitter post.

“After a great official visit at Ole Miss this week, I have decided to commit and will be signing on Wednesday. I am super excited about all of the opportunities that exist there. I want to thank Coach Kiffin, Coach Garrison, Coach Biagi, and the entire staff for hosting us this week.”

The Louisiana native is the No. 41 ranked recruit in the state. He is the No. 78 ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2023 recruiting class.

Purdue finished 8-5 on the season and will take on LSU in VRBO Citrus Bowl on Jan. 2. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
