Purdue suffered a tough blow on the recruiting trail on Wednesday.

Corey Gammage, a top wide receiver transfer who committed to Purdue back in May, has backed off of his pledge to the Boilermakers. Instead, he says he has enrolled at Central Florida and will play for the Golden Knights this season.

Here’s Gammage’s announcement:

Gammage has had an interesting offseason. He entered the portal shortly after the end of the 2022 campaign after a successful career at Marshall.

He initially committed to Memphis, but flipped to Purdue back in May. That makes UCF his 3rd commitment of the offseason.

Gammage was very productive during his career with the Thundering Herd. He caught 178 passes for 2,239 yards and 13 touchdowns across 4 seasons at Marshall. He has 1 year of eligibility remaining.

Purdue is down to 14 incoming transfers for the 2023 season. That group includes one other wide receiver: former FAU wideout Jahmal Erdine. It’s unclear if the Boilermakers intend to replace Gammage with another transfer before the start of the 2023 season.
