Purdue offensive lineman Tanner Hawthorne leaving the program

A Purdue offensive lineman has decided to depart from the program.
On Thursday afternoon, offensive tackle Tanner Hawthorne made the decision to leave the team. He made his announcement via Twitter just one day after the Boilermakers won the Foster Farms Bowl and clinched their first winning record since 2011.

Hawthorne, a redshirt freshman, has not seen the field in two seasons according to PurdueSports.com.
A 6-foot-6 lineman out of Arizona, Hawthorne is a former two-star recruit and was ranked as one of the top 25 players out of Arizona. As a prospect, he was also ranked as one of the top 130 offensive guards in the 2016 recruiting class.
It was unclear whether Hawthorne would be transferring from Purdue to continue his football career or if he was just leaving the program.
Purdue is coming off a 38-35 win over Arizona in the Foster Farms Bowl to finish the year 7-6. It was the Boilermakers first bowl victory and winning season since 2011.
