Purdue added to its talented receiver room on Saturday morning as the Boilermakers got a commitment from Marshall transfer Broc Thompson.

Thompson made the announcement on Twitter:

Thompson’s younger brother just endured a battle with cancer and prevailed after 29 rounds of chemotherapy, according to GoldAndBlack.com. Thompson said the experience made him want to be closer to home.

Thompson is from Indianapolis and attended Ben Davis High School.

In two seasons with Marshall, Thompson has recorded 33 catches for 562 yards. Last season, he posted 228 yards in just four games with the Mean Green.

Thompson is Purdue’s seventh addition via the transfer portal this offseason, according to 247Sports. Four of those players have come from Power 5 programs.

Despite losing Rondale Moore to the NFL Draft, Purdue still returns a very talented receiver group. Both of Purdue’s leading receivers from last season, David Bell and Milton Wright, are back for the 2021 campaign.
