David Blough is coming off his worst performance of the season, but the Purdue quarterback is eager to get back on the field.
Last week against Michigan State, Blough completed just 29-of-49 passes for 277 yards and threw three interceptions without a touchdown in a 23-13 loss. Prior to the game, the senior had thrown just three picks all year.
That poor performance has Blough motivated to get back on the field and deliver a more consistent performance.
“I’m thankful I get another chance to play football and I get another opportunity to go back out there because, as Coach Brohm says, losing and playing poorly pisses me off,” Blough said. “It frustrates me. I hope the guys see a motivated player with confidence. That’s what I’m going to be on Saturday. Cut it loose and give Iowa everything I got.”
Iowa brings one of the B1G’s top defenses into Ross-Ade Stadium on Saturday. The Hawkeyes rank fourth nationally in total defense (264.9 yards per game), 11th in scoring defense (16.1 points per game) and 18th in pass defense (180.5 yards per game).
Purdue had one of the nation’s most explosive offenses throughout the month of October. However, the Boilers were slowed down tremendously by the Spartans defense.
Saturday’s game is extremely important in the race for the B1G West. The winner stays alive while the loser is likely eliminated from contention.
Both Purdue and Iowa enter the game with a 3-2 record in conference play.
