One member of Purdue’s backfield is reportedly opting to test the transfer portal after one season in West Lafayette.

According to Tom Dienhart, running back Kobe Lewis is deciding to head for the portal. Lewis began his career at Central Michigan before transferring into the Boilermakers for the 2022 season.

Lewis was 1 of 3 Purdue running backs to register 40+ carries this season, rushing for 146 yards while appearing in all 13 games. Unfortunately, Lewis and other players in Purdue’s backfield were bypassed with the breakout season for redshirt freshman Devin Mockobee.

We’ll see what becomes of Lewis moving forward, but Jeff Brohm’s offense finally has a workhorse and versatile style back in Mockobee moving forward.
