It didn’t take Jeff Brohm long to land a huge commitment at Purdue.

On Friday night, 2019 four-star defensive end George Karlaftis III announced his commitment to Purdue following the conclusion of his high school football game. He made the announcement via video and also posted an image on Twitter.

Karlaftis, a native of West Lafayette, had 14 offers, including seven from B1G schools. He chose the Boilermakers over traditional conference powers like Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. He also held offers from Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Alabama and Tennessee.

According to 247Sports, Karlaftis is ranked No. 176 in the nation and is the 16th-best defensive end. He’s ranked as the second-best player from Indiana.

Karlaftis becomes the first commit of Purdue’s 2019 class and is one of the highest-rated recruits for the Boilermakers since such rankings have existed.
