A veteran Purdue defensive back is reportedly looking to play elsewhere this fall, just days before the 2023 season begins.

Jamari Brown, a 6th-year senior cornerback, has entered his name into the transfer portal, according to Dub Jellison of Rivals’ Boiler Upload.

Brown transferred to Purdue in 2021 after playing at Kentucky. He played in 27 games over the past 2 seasons. He was a 13-game starter, making 11 starts in 2021.

In his time with the Boilermakers, Brown recorded 47 tackles and 13 passes defended, including 3 interceptions. All 3 interceptions came last season.

Brown’s college football career began in 2018 at Kentucky. He redshirted in 2018 and played in 42 games over the past 4 seasons.

The NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver does not count the 2020 season against players’ eligibility, which allows Brown to be a 6th-year senior in 2023. While undergraduate transfers are limited to entering the transfer portal during specific windows, graduate students are allowed to enter the portal at any time. It will be interesting to see if Brown finds a new team, considering most teams are between 8–15 days away from opening the 2023 season.
