Purdue has been named a finalist for four-star Alabama running back Jaylin White. He announced his final three schools on Friday afternoon.
White, who ranks as the No. 12 running back in the 2021 class, announced his list of finalists with a post on Twitter. Along with Purdue, White is considering Florida and Florida State. He received 18 offers on the recruiting front but the Boilermakers were the only B1G team to be consideration this late in the game.
Two other B1G teams — Nebraska and Penn State — also extended offers.

According to 247Sports, White ranks as one of the top 300 overall players in the 2021 recruiting class, coming in at No. 262. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound back is also listed as the No. 9 player out of the state of Alabama.
During the 2019 season at Dothan High School, White racked up the rushing yardage. He totaled 900 yards and scored 16 touchdowns on the season. From 247Sports recruiting analyst Barton Simmons:
Slight-framed running back that fits more of an all-purpose body type than a prototypical every-down back. Has some deceptive punch given his size. Churns his feet and can run through contact or absorb and bounce off contact as needed. Has open field instincts as a big play threat. Changes directions at full speed.. Runs hard. Doesn’t panic in traffic and finds escape route efficiently. Plays balanced, even through contact. Good initial burst.
White announced that he will make his final decision on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Purdue could use another highly-ranked prospect in the 2021 class. Currently, the Boilers have just one 4-star player pledged to the class, which ranks last in the B1G.
