Purdue to be without starting QB Hudson Card vs. Illinois, per report

Purdue is heading into a Week 7 matchup against Illinois as a major underdog. In fact, the Boilermakers could be in an even worse situation after an early Friday morning report.
According to Brett McMurphy with Action Network, Card is going to be out for Week 7 with what he described as an upper-body injury. Tom Dienhart with GoldandBlack.com reports Card is missing the game and is in the concussion protocol.
Without Card available, the Boilermakers are expected to send out redshirt freshman Ryan Browne for his first career start.

Purdue is off to a rough 1-4 start to the season, even with Card throwing for 738 yards and 7 touchdowns so far this season. Missing the Illinois game is also significant after Card shined with 217 yards and 2 touchdowns in a win for the Boilermakers last season.
Browne has just 3 career appearances and has completed 19-of-27 passes for 172 yards but has 2 interceptions in his limited action.
After opening as a 19.5-point favorite, Illinois is now up to -22 at bet365 in the rivalry showdown. Bret Bielema has yet to win the Purdue Cannon during his time in Champaign with the Boilermakers winning 4 straight overall, but it looks like that could change in a major way this weekend.
