Holmes initially transferred to Purdue from Notre Dame as a grad student and was expected to bolster a weak receiving corps. But the grad transfer had trouble getting on the field and making an impact. Holmes played in just four games, catching one pass for seven yards.
Last season at Notre Dame, Holmes had 11 receptions for 96 yards while appearing in 11 games.
