Purdue is 5-4 this season.
That doesn’t scream contender.
But the Boilermakers have a 4-2 record in the Big Ten. In the Big Ten West, Purdue sits in second place, behind 5-1 Northwestern. The Wildcats are traveling to face Iowa on Saturday, so Purdue is right in the mix of potentially winning the division and appearing in the Big Ten title game.
A week ago, Purdue coach Jeff Brohm said that every game from this point on is a playoff game. The Boilermakers can’t have 3 losses in conference and still win the Big Ten Championship. It makes sense.
Last week, Purdue defeated Iowa 38-36 and kept itself alive in the Big Ten West.
This week, Purdue travels to Minnesota. Again, Brohm is saying this is a playoff game. He’s sticking with it.
You can hear what Brohm said after Thursday’s practice here.
