Purdue will be without its top running back for at least a few weeks according to head coach Jeff Brohm.

In Saturday’s game against Louisville, Markell Jones suffered a knee injury while returning a kickoff. Brohm confirmed that the ball-carrier will miss “a couple weeks or more.”

“He’s had a good fall camp and he’s really been into it, so it’s unfortunate that this has knocked him out a little bit,” Brohm said according to the Journal & Courier.

Jones has struggled with injuries throughout his career with the Boilermakers but has still played in 24 games in his career. He rushed for 616 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 to lead Purdue.

Purdue will play Ohio Friday night in West Lafayette. The game is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. and will air on FOX Sports 1.
