Quinn Ewers discusses decision to leave Ohio State, returning to ‘the home state’ with the Longhorns

One of the stories of the 2021 season was Quinn Ewers’ lone year at Ohio State.
Originally committed to Texas, Ewers flipped his commitment to the Buckeyes. He eventually reclassified to the 2021 recruiting class and arrived in Columbus shortly after the passage of NIL legislation.
Ewers would go on to enter the transfer portal after the 2021 season and transferred to Texas to play under head coach Steve Sarkisian. On Thursday, Ewers met with the media while going through his first spring with the Longhorns.
Asked about his transfer, Ewers discussed “a little obstacle” between his time in high school and winding up in burnt orange at Texas:
“I grew up always watching the Longhorns play, wanted to be in that burnt orange,” said Ewers. “There was a little obstacle in between, but I ended up here. I’m very thankful for all the opportunities God has given me, and I’m just excited to be back in the home state.”
Ewers also said his sole focus is on the future:
“Coach Sark once told me ‘That’s why the rearview mirror is so small and the windshield is so big.’ You just put the past behind you and just focus on what’s ahead,” Ewers explained.
