Quinshon Judkins was arrested in July on allegations of domestic violence. According to a report from the AP on Thursday, though, Broward County (Fla). prosecutors will not pursue the case, meaning that the former Ohio State and Ole Miss running back will not face formal charges.

Judkins, a second-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in April, had not signed his rookie contract amidst the legal proceedings. Although prosecutors have declined to prosecute, the NFL’s personal conduct policy could still mean that Judkins might face punishment from the league, per the AP.

On July 12, Judkins was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on a misdemeanor charge of battery and domestic violence. According to arrest reports, he was accused by an unnamed woman of “punch(ing) her with a closed fist in the chin/lip area and later hit(ting) her in the left arm and thigh” while leaving a local airport.

According to the AP, the assistant state attorney assigned to review the case wrote in a memorandum that there were several reasons not to prosecute, including a delayed report, a lack of video evidence, and a lack of independent witnesses.

The Pike Road, Alabama, native began his college career at Ole Miss and was named a first-team All-SEC selection in both of his seasons there, rushing for a conference-best 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2022 and adding 1,158 yards and a league-high 15 touchdowns in 2023.

He then transferred to Ohio State, where he ran for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns on 194 carries en route to All-Big Ten third-team honors. In the Buckeyes’ College Football Playoff National Championship Game win over Notre Dame, he totaled 11 carries for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.
