Rahmir Johnson was a key piece for Nebraska’s offense during the 2021 season. And for much of the offseason, chatter was building for Johnson to be utilized in a number of ways with the offense.
Unfortunately, that did not materialize in Week 1. Anthony Grant led Nebraska in carries with 19 and Marcus Washington led the team with 8 catches.
When the game was all said and done, Johnson appeared on special teams but did not register a carry or target in the passing game.
During his Tuesday press conference, head coach Scott Frost admitted that has to change moving forward. Frost said Johnson was probably overlooked after getting caught up between receiver and running back on the depth chart, but he has to be utilized more moving forward.

Frost on Rahmir: "I think he got caught between outside and playing in the backfield (in practices) but he's good enough we need to find a role for him and get him some touches."

Johnson definitely has a versatile skillset and appeared to have a role with the offense during training camp. However, that versatility cannot shine if he never sees an opportunity with the offense.
