One of the really cool aspects of every NFL Draft is the conversations between the head coach of an NFL team and the player that was recently selected in the event.

This week, the Las Vegas Raiders shared the video of the phone call between head coach Jon Gruden and newly-drafted cornerback Nate Hobbs. It provides a short glimpse into why the organization decided to take Hobbs, as well as his reaction to the news.

Below is the clip, shared by the Raiders:

Hobbs was selected in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft. He was one of two players from Illinois to be picked, along with offensive lineman Kendrick Green.

Hobbs played in 38 career games at Illinois and was credited with 166 tackles, which included 110 solo stops. He also registered 12.5 tackles for loss, 11 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and a scoop-and-score.

Now, Hobbs is heading to Vegas to get his NFL career started.
