The No. 5 overall quarterback prospect in the Class of 2025 just put on a show.

Maryland head coach Mike Locksley told reporters that he was going to let true freshman Malik Washington loose, and that’s just what happened. Washington threw for 258 yards with 3 touchdowns and led the Terrapins to a 39-7 win over the FAU Owls.

Most of that production came in the first half. Washington threw for 200 yards with all 3 touchdowns coming across the first 30 minutes, having completed 21 of his 33 attempts. But admittedly, the Terrapins did take a bit to get going.

The first score of the game actually came on defense. Daniel Wingate stepped in front of a Caden Veltkamp pass and returned it to the house for six.

Then Washington got going. He found Dorian Fleming and Kaleb Webb for back-to-back touchdowns to put the game out of reach early. For good measure, he found Knotts for another score the following drive, putting the cherry on top of a 33-7 lead for Maryland at the half.
