After he suggested the sixth-ranked Ducks should only play teams with similar recruiting budgets, Oregon handed Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy the worst loss of his 21-year tenure.
The Ducks (2-0) blasted the Cowboys (1-1) on Saturday to the tune of 69-3. Oregon led by 21 at the end of the first and by 38 at the halftime break — the worst halftime deficit of Gundy’s career. They outscored Oklahoma State 28-0 in the third quarter and then eased off the accelerator in the fourth to coast to a statement victory.
For Oregon, the 69-point explosion was the Ducks’ second consecutive game with at least 50 points to open the season — a first for the program since 2018. The 128 combined points Oregon has scored through the first 2 weeks of the campaign are the most to begin a season in program history.
