The Purdue Boilermakers have matched their 2024 win total in just one game, and they looked good while doing so. Led by a strong effort from QB Ryan Browne, Purdue dispatched Ball State 31-0 at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette.

This is the 2nd straight season the Boilermakers have blanked their opponent in Week 1. Purdue beat Indiana State 49-0 to kick off last year. Hopefully for Purdue, that’s where the similarities to 2024 end.

Browne was responsible for both of Purdue’s first 2 touchdowns, connecting with Arhmad Branch for a 49-yard score before rushing it in himself from 5 yards out. Devin Mockobee did the honors a few drives later, taking a direct snap 4 yards up the gut for 6.

Finally, Michael Jackson III scored the 4th and final touchdown of the day – and of course he had to hit a Michael Jackson celebration after the fact. Finally, Spencer Porath knocked in a field goal from 28 yards out to bring the final score to 31-0, Purdue.

Next up for the Boilermakers: Southern Illinois at Ross-Ade Stadium, next Saturday.
