ESPN’s College GameDay is heading to a bit of a unique location for Week 9.
Usually, GameDay announces its next location late Saturday evening, but the popular show waited to make an announcement for Week 9 until Sunday afternoon. In a video on Twitter, host Rece Davis announced that the popular pregame show is headed to Brookings, South Dakota for an FCS rivalry.
The game will be the Dakota Marker game between South Dakota State and North Dakota State. Both teams are traditional FCS powers. On the latest FCS Coaches Poll, NDSU was ranked No. 1 overall with SDSU ranked No. 3 overall. NDSU is undefeated while the lone loss for SDSU came at the hands of Minnesota.

GameDay previously made a trip to Fargo, North Dakota for a Bison game, but it has never been to South Dakota. However, what makes the decision interesting was the decision to pass on a Top-15 matchup between No. 13 Wisconsin and No. 3 Ohio State. Obviously, Wisconsin’s loss to Illinois took away a Top-10 matchup, but it still remains an elite matchup on the Week 9 slate.
