Once one of the top recruits in Michigan, Kalen King, is getting set for his freshman season at Penn State.

Expectations sure are high for James Franklin’s new weapon at cornerback.

Mike Farrell of Rivals lists King at No. 5 of his “Farrell Freshman 15” in which he ranks who he thinks the most impactful freshmen will be this season.

A four-star recruit out of Detroit, King has already been named preseason All-American by 247Sports. He had a strong spring and turned heads this offseason, pulling down two interceptions and taking one to the house for a pick-six during Penn State’s spring game.

King was the No. 16 cornerback and the No. 237 overall player in the class of 2021, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

King will get his first taste of college football this weekend when the 19th-ranked Nittany Lions travel to Madison to face No. 12-ranked Wisconsin.
