It’s not just the players who need to be tough on the field. The guys wearing the striped shirts better have some guts, too.
One official proved he’s got some toughness during Friday night’s B1G contest between Ohio State and Northwestern. Not only did he take a helmet to the face during a play, he had to receive stitches inside his mouth because of the damage.
Not to worry, though, he finished the game.
The official took a shot to the face in the second quarter of Friday night’s game, colliding with Northwestern linebacker Paddy Fisher on an Ohio State pass play that resulted in the touchdown. The official left the field, but the Big Ten Network crew said that he received some stitches and returned to Ryan Field to finish his officiating duties.
That’s one dedicated official.
Below is the best shot of the collision, though it’s hard to see exactly what happened. Nonetheless, the official showed some true toughness. He might be getting a call from some B1G coaches after the game.
