Reggie Bush applauds B1G, Pac-12 for backing off football this fall

While Kevin Warren and B1G presidents catch plenty of grief from frustrated B1G fans and players, the conference is getting some applause from one former college football star and analyst.

Reggie Bush of FOX Sports commended both the B1G and Pac-12 for making the move to postpone fall sports. The B1G was the first Power 5 league to pull the plug, followed shortly by the Pac-12. The moves caught plenty of criticism, especially following the #WeWantToPlay movement among student-athletes.

Bush says both leagues made the difficult, but right, decision.

“I thought it was the right decision because we still don’t know what the long-term effects of COVID-19 is,” Bush said on Big Noon Kickoff. “On top of that, we don’t have a cure yet. We don’t have a vaccine. It’s not the athletes we’re so worried about. We know they’re going to be healthy and taken care of. But they can get it and pass it to coaches, who may not be as healthy as some of these athletes…we can’t have coaches dying or being drastically affected.”

So far, the B1G and the Pac-12 are the only Power 5 leagues to postpone the college football season. The ACC, SEC and Big 12 are all pushing forward with late-September start dates.

The B1G may not be getting much praise for the move, but Bush still believes the correct decision was made.
