One of the top overall prospects in the 2023 recruiting class is heading to East Lansing this weekend for Michigan State’s spring game. Rivals.com’s Nick Harris reported the news.
DJ Hicks, a native of Katy, Texas, is making the trek to East Lansing this weekend as the Spartans close out the 2022 spring practice schedule. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman is a 5-star prospect and the No. 4 overall player of the recruiting cycle.

Hicks has received nearly 40 offers on the recruiting front and is one of the top targets in the class. He’s already committed to play in the Polynesian Bowl, as well.
Possesses ideal size and growth potential to add additional weight to frame. Displays good athleticism and shows the ability to play multiple roles in a four-man front. Three-sport athlete with a dynamic track and field background. Flashes an explosive first step while exhibiting good foot and body quickness off the line of scrimmage. Shows the ability to bend the edge while possessing good burst to close ability.
During the 2021 season, Hicks was credited with 88 tackles, 22 for loss and 13 sacks at Paetow High School.
This will be a major opportunity for the Spartans to make a big impression on one of the best players of the 2023 recruiting class.
