The Pac-12 is just in Week 2 of its 2020 campaign. But the conference might already be in the lead for biggest mess due to coronavirus.

There have been multiple games canceled, a Sunday morning tilt in the Rose Bowl just to start. Now things are getting dire in Tempe with Arizona State. Reports are coming out about the outbreak of COVID-19 cases, and let’s say, it’s not good.

So much to unpack here. Describing the situation as dire just really sets the tone. Then, there’s the facility. If the facility isn’t even open, that likely means that we’re likely a ways away from the Sun Devils returning to any game action.

Then, there’s the fact an ENTIRE unit of this football team with COVID. That’s probably 40 players or so. Woof. Then, there’s six staff members having the virus.

Finally, the description of this outbreak as “the beginning” should frighten just about everyone. This is going to get a lot worse for Arizona State before it’s going to get better.

In the meantime, the Sun Devils will try and get things under control. Arizona State sits at 0-1 after a 28-27 loss to USC in Week 1. The team announced on Friday that Saturday’s game against California was postponed. I have to imagine that’s the first of many for the Sun Devils.
