Report: B1G amends COVID-19 testing policy as Ohio State prepares for College Football Playoff

Things just seem to keep going Ohio State’s way.

After a 5-0 regular season, the B1G league officials modified their rules regarding the number of games required to play in the Big Ten Championship game, so the Buckeyes were able to take on Northwestern on Saturday.

Then, Ohio State managed to hold off Northwestern’s offense, eventually pulling away from an initially tight contest with the Wildcats to capture the league crown 22-10.

On Sunday morning, the Buckeyes learned their position in the College Football Playoffs, earning a slot in the Allstate Sugar Bowl and a matchup with No. 2 Clemson. The Tigers manhandled Notre Dame on Saturday, winning the ACC Championship Game, 34-10.

But even more good news may be on the way for OSU head coach Ryan Day.

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported that the Big Ten will revise the mandatory return-to-play rules that are required after a player tests positive. The 21 day wait will reportedly move down to 17, meaning that Ohio State players will need to have tested positive on or before The move may pave the way for Buckeyes receiver Chris Olave and several other players to be cleared to play Clemson on Jan. 1 in the national semifinal.

According to Rittenberg, the league’s cardiac policies will remain in place.

The official release is expected on Monday.
