One of the first major announcements of the Ryan Day era at Ohio State is expected to be made on Saturday.

Tony Gerdeman of The O-Zone reported that Brian Hartline will officially be added to Day’s staff as the wide receivers coach, removing the interim tag. Hartline took over the position after ex-assistant coach Zach Smith was terminated due to allegations of domestic violence.

Hartline is the first major move made by Day as the Buckeyes’ head coach.

Day said he plans to wait until after the Rose Bowl — Urban Meyer’s final game as head coach — to make decisions regarding his staff.

Hartline was a wide receiver at Ohio State from 2006 through 2008. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Hartline joined the Ohio State coaching staff in 2017 as a graduate assistant.
