The team that Ohio State basketball is going to be playing in its 2023 season opener was announced in a report on Monday. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein posted about the news via his Twitter account.

Ohio State is planning on kicking off the 2023 campaign with a home game against Oakland on Nov. 6. The exact tipoff of the contest is unknown at this time.

Oakland currently plays in the Horizon League. Teams like Youngstown State, Green Bay, and Cleveland State are all members of the conference.

Chris Holtmann and Ohio State will be looking to reach the NCAA Tournament in 2023 after falling in the B1G semifinals to Purdue. The Boilermakers went on to beat Penn State in the final to take home the conference title. The Buckeyes finished the year at 16-19 following the loss to the Boilermakers.

Ohio State last played in the NCAA Tournament in 2021 after reaching the second round.

Oakland did not finish with a winning record in 2022 either. The Golden Grizzlies ended their season at 13-19 following a loss to Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League quarterfinal.

We’ll see who will come out on top in November.
