College football fans who hate the long stretch between the end of the regular season and bowl mania won’t have to wait quite as long for the postseason to begin in 2019. Sorta.
Wednesday, Stadium’s Brett McMurphy reported that the NCAA Football Oversight Committee approved a proposal to allow bowl games to start one day early in 2019. Games were planned to start on Saturday, Dec. 21 this year, but will instead begin on Friday, Dec. 20.
The reason for the change, according to McMurphy, is because of the limited number of weekends available for the 2019 bowl season.
