Report: CFB insider cites sources, says October start date ‘ain’t happening’

The insanity in the B1G doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Despite recent rumors that the conference is potentially eyeing a return to play by mid-October, college football insider Dennis Dodd says that won’t be the case.
Earlier this week, Dan Patrick reported that the B1G was considering a date of Oct. 10 to launch its 2020 football campaign. Patrick explained that the reason for that date was because it was the latest the league could start and still be in consideration for one of the four spots for the College Football Playoff.
On Thursday afternoon, though, Dodd reported that multiple sources within the B1G indicated that “Oct. 10 ain’t happening.” He also reported that there is no immediate plan for the presidents in the B1G to meet again to vote on a potential start date.

This report would support what Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos said earlier this week, saying there’s “nothing to the report” that Patrick released about an Oct. 10 start date.
Currently, the B1G is kicking around a January start date for a spring football season. However, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel also reported that Thanksgiving weekend has been targeted as a potential date to keep in mind, as well.
As we’ve learned many times, the situation seems to be fluid in the B1G.
