Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones played well during the preseason, but not well enough to earn a spot on the Los Angeles Chargers’ roster.
Saturday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Jones was notified by the Chargers that he will be released. He is hoping to land on another NFL roster before the start of the regular season.
Chargers told QB Cardale Jones that they are releasing him, per league source. Jones played well this summer and is expected to find another home soon.

Jones has bounced around the NFL since leaving Ohio State, struggling to find a permanent home in the NFL. But this preseason might’ve been his best since joining the NFL, so he could have a shot to find a spot somewhere in the league.
We’ll have to see if anyone takes Jones during the final few days before the start of the NFL regular season. Surely he can be an asset to one of the teams in the league.
