Report: Chase Young to be elevated to team captain after Washington revoked captaincy of Dwayne Haskins

It isn’t often (if ever) that rookies get named as a team captain in the NFL. Such is the case for Chase Young, reportedly handed the captaincy of the Washington Football Team.
Young takes one of the captain slots originally held by quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who, well, got into some trouble this week. The report about Young’s elevation to captain was made on Sunday afternoon by Sam Fortier with the Washington Post.
Washington has named rookie DE Chase Young a captain, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Taken second overall by Washington in April’s NFL Draft, Young was one of the nation’s top players at Ohio State a season ago. His performance off the edge earned him numerous accolades, including winning the Chuck Bednarik Award from the Maxwell Football Club as the nation’s top defensive player.
In 13 games this season, Young had 38 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, and eight quarterback hits. He was a captain last year for his final season at Ohio State, helping lead the Buckeyes to a B1G Championship and CFP semifinal.
