Details have surfaced regarding Ryan Day’s new contract to become Ohio State’s next head coach in wake of Urban Meyer’s decision to retire.

According to Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch, Day’s contract is a 5-year deal worth approximately $4 million per year. The exact figure wasn’t immediately known.

Day was the offensive coordinator on Meyer’s staff for the last two seasons. During Meyer’s three-game suspension, Day was the acting head coach.

Ohio State went 3-0 under Day.

The announcement of Meyer’s resignation came early Tuesday morning. A press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

Meyer was the head coach in Columbus for seven seasons, winning three B1G titles and a national championship. The Buckeyes won their second straight conference title on Saturday.

Day became a hot commodity this season as Ohio State boasted one of the most prolific offenses in the country. Dwayne Haskins also pieced together a Heisman-caliber season, a feat Meyer has attributed to Day’s guidance.
