ESPN college football reporter Maria Taylor is reportedly nearing a move to NBC.
That’s according to Front Office Sports, who reports that Taylor’s deal with NBC is “at the half yard line.”
Taylor’s contract with ESPN expires on July 20. She’s been heavily involved in the World Wide Leader’s college football and NBA coverage for several years.
According to the report, ESPN has offered to increase Taylor’s current salary to $3 million but she is seeking $5 million annually.
With NBC, Taylor would have the opportunity to cover Notre Dame football, Sunday Night Football and this summer’s Olympics.
Earlier this month, the New York Times reported that Taylor was on the receiving end of controversial comments made by fellow ESPN anchor Rachel Nichols. The comments, made last summer, only recently came to light but could have an impact on Taylor’s future at the network.
It’s currently unclear who would replace Taylor’s college football coverage on ESPN if she does move to NBC.
Taylor has been part of ESPN’s College Game Day team since 2017.
