Report: Ex-Husker RB likely to miss 2019 season at San Diego State

Former Nebraska running back Greg Bell decided to leave the program midway through the 2018 season, hoping to continue his career elsewhere. He received that opportunity at San Diego State, but the former Husker will likely have to wait a year to step back on the field.
Head coach Rocky Long told the San Diego Union-Tribune that Bell recently suffered an unspecified injury that will keep him sidelined for the 2019 campaign. It was not mentioned whether or not the injury was football-related.
Long simply said Bell was injured during an “offseason incident.” The injury will require surgery, which Bell is scheduled to undergo on Wednesday.
Bell was expected to be a contributor for the Aztecs in 2019 after committing to the program in March. He has two years of eligibility remaining, so if he does miss all of the upcoming season he will likely be granted an additional year for medical hardship by the NCAA. He has already used his redshirt year.
At Nebraska, Bell appeared in four games, rushing for 173 yards on 35 carries. He also had four receptions for 14 yards.
