Samuel was recovering from a groin injury that occurred in the offseason. He’s entering his first season with Washington after spending the past four years with the Carolina Panthers.
Over the course of his first four seasons in the NFL, Samuel played in 53 games with the Panthers. He was responsible for 185 catches for 2,087 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s also rushed 72 times for 478 yards and 5 trips to the end zone.
The 2020 season was Samuel’s most productive at Carolina. He hauled in 77 passes for 851 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also posted a career-best 200 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.
Washington plans to ease Samuel back into workouts and practice over the next month. The Football Team starts its season on Sunday, Sept. 12 with a home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
