Report: Former Hawaii QB, Heisman Trophy finalist dies at 37

Former Hawaii quarterback, record setter and Heisman Trophy candidate Colt Brennan has died, according to multiple reports. He was 37 years old.

Details of Brennan’s death have not been made available at this time.

Brennan was the starting quarterback at Hawaii from 2005-07 and tossed 131 career touchdown passes and piled up 20 games with 400 or more passing yards. During his career, Brennan threw for 14,193 yards in just three seasons. He also accounted for 547 rushing yards and an additional 15 scores on the ground.

In 2007, Brennan was a Heisman Trophy finalist after throwing for 4,343 yards and 38 touchdowns while rushing for 8 additional scores. He finished third behind Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.

Brennan had a remarkable year in 2006, racking up 5,549 yards through the air and throwing 58 touchdown passes while completing 72.6% of his passes. He also rushed for 366 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Brennan would go on to be a sixth-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft and played for the Washington Redskins from 2008-09.
