The NCAA decided to hand out some immediate eligibility waivers on Friday. Including a B1G hoops transfer target.
Dawson Garcia has received clearance from the NCAA to play for Minnesota this season. He had a stop at Marquette, and more recently North Carolina. Garcia plays forward, and averaged 9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.7 assists for the Tarheels last season.
A source told the news to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Source: Minnesota’s Dawson Garcia has received a waiver from the NCAA and is eligible for the 22-23 season.
Garcia is a two-time transfer who has previously played at both North Carolina and Marquette.

Garcia was a former 4-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite. He was the No. 4 PF, and No. 2 player from his home state of Minnesota in the 2020 class. The Prior Lake native will be heading back to his roots. Garcia comes in at 6-foot-11, 220 pounds.
Garcia is officially eligible to play for the 2022-2023 season. Other recent transfer additions for the Golden Gophers include Ta’Lon Cooper from Moorehead State, and Taurus Samuels from Dartmouth.
The Golden Gophers are coming off of a 13-17 season last year, and will need all the help they can get.
