Report: Former Ohio State DE Sam Hubbard signs huge extension with Cincinnati Bengals

Former Ohio State defensive end Sam Hubbard just got paid.
Hubbard reportedly signed a 4-year, $40 million extension with the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. That’s per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Bengals and DE Sam Hubbard reached agreement on a four-year, $40 million extension, per sources.

Hubbard has been exceptional for the Bengals since being drafted in the third round by the team in 2018. Last season, he amassed 62 total tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
For his career, he’s totaled 22 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks for the Bengals.
Hubbard was a productive player in college, but still fell until the third round of the 2018 draft. He was very consistent over three seasons for Ohio State, producing 30 tackles for loss and 17 sacks during his collegiate career.
This contract will take Hubbard through his age 30 season and should take his career earnings north of $45 million, per Spotrac.
The Bengals open the 2021 season with the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 12.
